Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS)

Through its Institute for Rescue Services, Emergency and Disaster Management (IREM) , THWS is intensively involved in practice-oriented research in the fields of civil protection, disaster relief and resilience promotion. The focus is on developing innovative solutions for the prevention, management and follow-up of emergencies. Through close cooperation with emergency response organisations and regular participation in large-scale exercises in Bavaria, the institute contributes to the transfer of scientifically sound, application-oriented concepts into real-world use. Current research focuses include digital patient and situation simulation, the development of robotic assistance systems and integrative operational planning in the event of a disaster.
